Cistercian Architecture in the 12th century.  
 

To carve 36 needed columns we began with a stone slab cut to square shaped columns.

Diagonal cuts would shape octagonal columns

Ready for the self-made lathe

On the lathe we adjusted on the table to get an exact 90 degree angle to the blade of the saw.

Quickly the columns are shaped by the slow moving table.

The columns need to be cut to length at installation time.
