Cistercian Architecture in the 12th century.

To start I marked the stone block with basic outline's of the shape details

The self-made radius cutter carved perfect circles to the depth needed for the shape.

The first details become visible

One side of the oculus is now shaped and the block needed to be turned to carve the second side

With two forklifts and some nerves we turned the slab upside down to finish the second side.

Finally the center block still attached needed to be cut out and removed.

The finished oculus awaits installation . The marked circles will be cutout after installation to complete the design.
