To start I marked the stone block with basic outline's of the shape details |
The self-made radius cutter carved perfect circles to the depth needed for the shape. |

The first details become visible |
One side of the oculus is now shaped and the block needed to be turned to carve the second side |
|
|
|
With two forklifts and some nerves we turned the slab upside down to finish the second side. |
Finally the center block still attached needed to be cut out and removed. |
|
|
|
The finished oculus awaits installation . The marked circles will be cutout after installation to complete the design. |
